Bye B ye Kauai

Family bike ride

As you can see, it did not end well for Dad. We got a little to far away from home and Cora got tired. So she hopped in the stoller with Cate and Dad took care of the bike. Poor Cliff.

Our Poody Doody

Love this pic. Here's until next summer vacay!

Helicopter Ride

Mommy stepped out for an afternoon helicopter ride. I have never seen so many waterfalls, and probably never will again. The ride was amazing, one I will never forget. To top it all off, the last song on the flight was one of Paw Paw Jerry's favorites: " What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong.

View from down in tallest canyon. Good.

Rainbow at the bottom of the falls, means you are supposed to kiss.

Many get engaged or married at the base of the below falls. There is a small island not pictured in front of the falls where helicopters can land.

This was my fave, seeing 4 waterfalls feed into one another.

The Grand Canyon of Kauai

Turtle's neck. The pictures do not do it justice. We saw about 3 rainbows while viewing the coast due to light and quick rain shower. Good.

One of our last mornings at the beach, Cliff spotted some Spinning dolphins.

Mom Carol taking a walk on the beach.....

We stopped at a roadside resturant and the Fish and Chips and Tropical Tea was out of this world!

The brazilian cardinals loved the french fries that Cora and Cate left them :)

Then, as always OUR Dip in the pool. We started a new tradition that day: the three girls giving KiSSES! They would just laugh laugh laugh and want to do it over and over. Mommy's favorite too:)

Sunset over Napali Coast

Our last night in Kauai, we watched the sunset over the Napali Coast. The views were spectacular. We had a cocktail , played hide and seek, and even danced to a few toons. Thanks for the memories Kauai!

Lighthouse

Maw Maw, Jenea, and Cora had an afternoon adventure to see a Lighthouse while Cliff and Cate napped. It was beautiful. Turns out this is the spot many humpback whales mate and swim with their babies. Too bad it was not January so we could see them!

The Lighthouse turned out to be Maw Maw' favorite site.

Breathtaking.

Napali Coast end

On our venture to see the end of the Napali Coast, we stopped at a beautiful beach where someone "washed that man right out of her hair" in the movie South Pacific. Cora ran and found a incline of sand to tumble down.

Up and Down she went. Mom and Dad even tried it. It was fun!

My baby girl.

Cora had to stop painting on the beach for this pic. She was not happy with her Mama.

As always, when we returned from our morning adventure we took a dip in the pool. You don't see Maw Maw in a pool very often. She even SWAM that day!

Fishing

Our rental house on Victoria Loop. Home sweet home this week.

We had Sunday Brunch at the Marriot, 3 blocks away.

While Cate napped after lunch, we took Cora out for an adventure.

We found a beach that had a little fishing hole. She had the best time trying to catch a fish in her bucket. 2 little boys were so sweet and shared their fish with Cora. We even got some snorkeling in.

Cate loved looking at the fish in the bowl.

Waterfalls

Today was our day to find some waterfalls! Cora and Maw Maw told secrets on the drive to pass time.

Worth the drive and Cora getting car sick. We had to take the winding roads REAL slow. This is Wailau Falls as seen in Fantasy Island.

I could not stop staring at the falls. Cora looked at it for 2 seconds and then was off to pet a dog nearby. Kids.

Cate would point at the falls and smile.

Falls by the Sleeping Giant Mountain. Try to explain to a 3 year old that the mountain is not a REAL Giant. That was the discussion on the car ride home.

To end a perfect day, Maw Maw and Cora took a bike ride in the rain. Everytime Maw Maw got on a bike in Kauai, it rained. We loved teasing her about that:)

Queen's Bath Kauai

Just a 10 minute hike down a slippery muddy slope to one of the most beautiful oceanside hikes I have ever been on. Thank you God for this afternoon with Cliff and scenery only you can create.

Our walk along the black lava rocks......

Wonderful views of the Napali Coast from the North Shore. The tip behind us turns to complete wilderness and can only be viewed by boat or helicopter. Unless you want to take a life threatening hike along the cliffs.

There were 4-5 pools you could swim in as the waves beat against the other side of them.

Kauai Day 1

The plane to paradise. June 25, 2011.

There were chickens at the airport to greet us and everywhere else we went in Kauai.

The lap pool at our rental house.

First views of Hanelai Bay, our favorite beach. Cora and Cliff loved the waves.

Cora saying "hello" to the beach!

We got in the habit of taking a dip in the lap pool after getting back from the beach. Then, lunch and nap!
