First day 4's Preschool

Cora J is dressed and ready to go the 4's preschool class this year. I love seeing her excitement to go to school. We even saw a small snake on his way to school this morning. Check him out!

So proud of my girl. Nothing quite like the first day of school. Brings back good memories:)

Cora's buddy Bailey. They have such a good time riding to and from school every morning.

Tinkerbell Bike

We went ahead and got one of Cora's birthday presents early so she could get full use out of the fall weather. She picked a lovely TINKERBELL model with matching hat.

The bike spurred Cora thinking about her 4 year birthday party. She HAD to type her own invitations to her friends and family. Here she is asking us how to spell every word that she wants to say.

Another Adventure

We had so much fun on our adventure to see where Grandmother Cora grew up, we decided the next weekend to go to the home she was born in. She lived there until age 4 years. She even had some memory of the home! The road to get there was rough , but we finally made it. It was worth it! It is just a few miles outside of Pilot Grove, Missouri.

The home. We talked to the current owner and he told us he almost burnt it down during the blizzard of 2011. Good thing he waited!

Here is Daisy and Thomas Brownfield's bedroom where Grandmother was born in 1911.

My Cora J taking it all in with her Grandmothers. Priceless.

The sweetest little outhouse. Looks like it was the chicken coop.

It was a beautiful day and experience to see and hear Grandmother's memories.

Sisters

Cora and Cate are really getting their roles as sisters. It is a daily love and frustration relationship. Here is some of the love side. Peach Mango Popsickles for breakfast and Apples for snacks. Cora has learned how to cut up an apple with a butter knife. Lord help us.

The Real Party

On Grandmother's actual birthday on Sept. 5, 2011, we took a drive toPilot Grove down Ghost Holler Road to the home she grew up in from age 4 till marriage. She was courted by my Grandfather and married my Grandfather Richard in the parlor. The parlor is the room to the right of the front door. The home is beautiful and a young couple just purchased it to restore it as newlyweds.

Grandmother told us about her wedding day. She chose to walk down the stairs arm and arm with my Grandfather. She remembered her brother and sister in law standing at the bottom of the stairs holding her niece Darlene.

It was like she was 6 years old again when she entered her bedroom.

The parlor. Standing where she married Grandpa Richard.

It was a good day. One I will never forget. Happy Birthday Grandmother!

Bye Bye Highchair

In typical Cate fashion, she decided she was going to sit at the table. No more highchair. So, we find her with her bowl sitting at the table like a big girl. She cracks us up!

100th Birthday Party

September 11, 2011 Grandmother Cora Velma turned 100 years old! We celebrated with lovely church service and God provided the air conditioning! It was 100 degrees the day before and the church air conditioners quit! But Sunday morning was beautiful and 65 degrees :)

Fixing her own plate for lunch at 100!

My girls are so lucky to have her in their lives. What an example of how to LIVE.

One of Grandmother's 1st grade students from her first class. Too cute!

It was fun to watch Grandmother talking with family friend Birdie and Cousin Charles about funny stories that happened on the farm. This was right after they talked about putting a snake in my grandfathter's truck.

Girls Tiger Game

Since Daddy was sick, Mama and Cora J headed to the 1st Tiger game of the year. It was 100 degrees that day! We had fun checking out the Golden Girls, Walking to the stadium, Watching the game 1 minute and 30 seconds, getting a snack, and then leaving!
